Dear Retired NFL Players & Families,

As you probably know, Dr. Amy Lewis started a petition to end race-norming in the NFL Concussion Settlement and it has now collected more than 50,000 signatures!  It is now ready to be delivered and you're invited to join the "delivery team."  It is hoped that a strong showing of former players and/or wives/family members will take part in the delivery to Judge Brody, keeping the pressure for reform on.

From Amy:

SOS! We need players to accompany us delivering a petition to judge Brody in Philly.

Friday, May 14th in Philadelphia.  We are meeting with ABC News Nightline and other members of the press about an hour before we go to the courthouse to deliver the petition. I think we will probably meet around 10:00 a.m. and be at the courthouse at 11:00.  Please have them reach out to former player Ken Jenkins at 301-523-7091 or kennyjenkins31@msn.com. Players and family members are welcome.

If you live in the Philadelphia area or are up for a road trip, please consider participating in this important delivery!  Also, share this with anyone you know who may not be on this email list but would likely be interested in participating.  You might also want to make sure your attorney knows about this in case he/she might have clients who would like to make a statement by helping to deliver the petition.
This is definitely my shortest newsletter ever (enjoy it while you can, LOL!)  We really need to keep pressure on the settlement and the media has taken an interest in it because of the race-norming issue.  This is our biggest and best opportunity to force much-needed change in the bait and switch settlement, not only in regard to race-norming but other areas such as functional requirements and other requirements that were not a part of the settlement language and interpreted in favor of the NFL.

In the next newsletter, I'll be sharing an update on some legal cases of interest to retired NFL players and families.  In the meantime, stay safe and try to remain positive.  I've purposely been less visible as far as new posts to the blog go because I've focused most of my energy on working behind the scenes for the changes we all hope to see.  If you'd like to make a tax-deductible contribution toward my efforts, just follow the link below.

Sheilla
