 Canada ICI Acquired MFCI Capital
|
|
Brookfield Asset Management Inc. has begun a sales process to sell PD Ports
Calgary Flames and the City of Calgary have agreed to each kick in $12.5 million toward the construction of the new arena project. Also, city entity Rivers District will no longer oversee the project … Total cost is now pegged at $608.5 million – construction to start in December, 2021 – completion August, 2024
Calgary Flames and City of Calgary finalized terms for the new arena project plan and budget
Calgary Parking Authority completed a 50,000 sq. ft. of office space within the 500 stalls parking garage new build; great design if you like pipes – but you have to wonder what City Council was thinking when the downtown core has so much vacant supply of both office space and parking capacity – because surely they saw the trends before they put a shove in the ground to build this. Oh yes, room for 99 bicycles too; the price tag is $80.0 million …
Canada Infrastructure Bank ‘to consider’ investing in the $1.0 billion Calgary-Banff rail plan … tic toc
Canada Lands Company announced a $50.0 million investment to revitalize the Old Port of Montreal
Concert-Bird Partners, a consortium comprised of Bird Capital Limited Partnership, Bird Design-Build Construction Inc., Concert Infrastructure Ltd., Ainsworth Inc., BR2 Architecture and Wright Construction Western Inc., selected by Alberta Infrastructure as the preferred proponent for the Design, Build, Finance, and Maintain (DBFM) contract for five Alberta high schools
Deerfoot Trail improvement project – P3 short-list narrows the field
EllisDon will lead the project – an unsolicited project proposal to the GOA; Prairie Link High-Speed Rail Project secured an MOU with the GOA to build a high-speed rail link connecting Edmonton and Calgary; this is a project that has been floated several times in the past without success – so, maybe, in the fullness of time, it could happen. The estimated capital cost is $22.4 billion. Here’s the key: right of way + many bridges/tunnels and interchanges, so it’s not so much the cost of the rails and cars – it’s having a clear path of travel. Like I said, ‘in the fullness of time’ …
Government of Canada entered into a deal to salvage the Muskrat Falls hydro project; $5.2 billion deal
GOC providing Calgary International Airport with $57.0 million from Transport Canada's Airport Critical Infrastructure Program for rehabilitation of the west runway
Infrastructure BC issued a proposal call for Burnaby Hospital Redevelopment Project – Phase 1
Innergex Renewable Energy Inc. commissioned its 225.5 MW Griffin Trail wind facility
Innergex Renewable Energy Inc. acquired an 18MW run-of-river hydro facility in Chile
Polaris Infrastructure Inc. in Nicaragua 10MW deal with Ormat Technologies Inc.
Soneil Investments acquired two GTA-east properties (3-buildings, 665,000 sq. ft. – 41 acres) for $120.0 million
Springbank Off-Stream Reservoir project – getting a go-ahead, finally … $168.5 million in federal bucks promised in 2019, now re-promised and yet to be delivered. The ten-year project will cost $2.0 billion, and if keep our fingers crossed the project will get started before the next flood … maybe. Best we should not hold our breath!

across Canada, as re-openings post-COVID shutdowns is shaking out in several areas of difficulty for retailers: staffing up is difficult, and unsold previous season inventories for fashion retailers – while inventories are slow (sitting on the water waiting to unload container ships), increased freight costs/delays pose cash flow/liquidity problems are huge challenges for many retailers
across the pond – in the UK, Selfridges FOR SALE? … and time marches on
Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. agreed to acquire Cape D'Or Holdings Limited, Barrington Terminals Limited and other entities, operating independent convenience stores in Atlantic Canada under the Esso, Wilsons Gas Stops and Go! Store brands
Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. agreed to acquire 35 Porters locations in Oregon and Washington from
 at home taken private

Foodtastic Inc. acquired Pita Pit Canada and Pita Pit International (460 locations)
Grand Touring Automobiles expanding its representation – in Calgary, and for the prairies; locations across three dealerships in Calgary - Glendeer Circle and Heritage Drive: Aston Martin, Automobili Pininfarina, Bentley, Bugatti, Jaguar, Karma, Koenigsegg, Land Rover, Lamborghini, Lotus, Polestar, RIMAC, Rolls-Royce and Volvo
Ivanhoe Cambridge sold its Mic Mac Mall in Dartmouth, NS to Joe Ramia and Rank Inc.; Cushman & Wakefield will manage the property for the new owners
ICSC of old is no more; rebranding as Innovating Commerce Serving Communities ~ which is a weirdly contrived silly name to save the ICSC moniker without changing their domain; strikes me that R.I.P. would be a better name
JLL Canada is taking over management and leasing of the Canadian shopping centre portfolio owned by Ivanhoé Cambridge
Levitee Labs Inc. acquired three specialized pharmacies in Alberta
Nike opened a massive flagship store in Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto; more locations planned
