Virtual hugs to all of you!

Since our last newsletter the world has changed quite dramatically and we know many of you will be experiencing a tidal wave of emotions and problems at this time. It is completely rational to have feelings of upset, alarm, fear even loss or nothing at all.
If you listen to, or read the news you will know that The Northern Beaches has been one of the COVID-19 hotspots so we must stay safe and take social distancing measures seriously.
Our community Hub does more than give young people a place to hang out. It improves mental health, transforms the community and helps save lives. We are doing this with the help of a lot of caring people.

The AYH wants to continue to provide all of these qualities because they are needed more than ever now. Services have been adapted to our new reality trying to offer you as much support as before. We have noticed a spike in young people needing our services, so we ask, if you can, to continue to support us. any way you can.

We are unable to hang out in person but we are here Monday - Friday 9am to 5pm, contactable via the AYH mobile - 0487 936 875. You can also stay up to date with our ever evolving response on our facebook page.
Have you seen this short video about who we are and what we are about? Take a look and meet some of our regular young people!

This is our bi-monthly Friends of Avalon Hub (AYH) newsletter where we have an opportunity to let you know what's happening - we will never be spammy or irrelevant so you might also like to forward to others in your network who may be interested in our work or sign up as a first time reader!
New online drop-in sessions
On Monday’s & Thursday’s 3-5pm you can catch us online via our social media channels, facebook messenger or insta DM. You can talk to any of the usual crew - Ash, Laura or Tanya via these channels. We can also arrange a zoom call for a face to face catch up if you’d like to talk in more depth. more details here.
Meditation on Instagram
Merryn from Soul Safaris is holding meditation sessions over on our Instagram page. If you miss our regular sessions this is exactly the same except we are all maintaining the physical distance we need to preserve at the moment. We will keep these sessions running online for you as long as we need to protect eachother. Times are each Wednesday at 5pm.
Waves of Welless online
Who would have thought this one we could run online eh?! Well we have! It may have involved some couch surfing but it's great to know that when we are caught in a rip, we can wave a hand and ask for help. The guys over at Waves of Wellness are doing amazing work at this time and also have a competition running if anyone would like to check it out.
Lifeline - 0477 13 11 14
Many young people (and adults) find talking directly with someone a barrier to seeking and finding help, Lifeline are on the ball again and are providing a new TEXT service between 6pm and midnight. Don't suffer in silence, speak to someone about what's going on with you, whether in person or via LifeLine Text.
The Avalon Youth Hub is currently funded by Northern Beaches Council and a generous philanthropist until June 30 2020. The funding covers our core staffing and operational needs so any additional funding achieved will go towards expanding our workshop program, contracting specialist youth staff as required or enhancing our youth engagement program.
